The Workshop Behind the World's Most Lifelike Dinosaurs
Nearly two decades of sculpting, engineering and programming — one craft: bringing extinct and imaginary creatures back to life.
HeCen Animatronic Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
Founded in 2008 in Zigong — the lantern capital of China — and trusted by venues on six continents.
Founded in 2008, HeCen Animatronic Manufacturing Co., Ltd. — known to clients worldwide as HC Dinosaur — has grown from a small specialty workshop into one of the most complete animatronic dinosaur manufacturers serving the global attractions industry. For nearly two decades, we have designed, built, and installed life-size animatronic dinosaurs for theme parks, museums, zoos, shopping malls, science centers, resorts, and touring exhibitions across more than 40 countries, with over 500 projects delivered.
Our mission is simple: to bring the prehistoric world to life with engineering precision and artistic craftsmanship — and to make world-class animatronic attractions accessible to clients of every size, from a single museum specimen to a 35-unit international exhibition.
From a Small Workshop to a Global Attraction Builder
HC Dinosaur began in 2008 with a small team of sculptors, molders, and mechanical engineers who shared one obsession: making dinosaurs that move, breathe, and roar with convincing realism. In those early years, every piece was built largely by hand — sculpted in clay, molded in fiberglass, fitted with motors, and finished with individually painted silicone skin.
The turning point came in 2012, when we completed our first international export. That project taught us the realities of global delivery: shipping containers, customs documentation, weather extremes, and the need for installation support that travels with the product. We built our export process around those lessons, and today our project management team has coordinated installations on five continents, in climates ranging from desert heat to arctic cold.
By 2018, demand had outgrown our original facility. We completed a major factory expansion that tripled our production capacity and introduced dedicated production lines for sculpting, molding, painting, mechanical assembly, and electronics. In 2023, we invested in a full digital design upgrade — 3D sculpting software, digital motion simulation, and remote diagnostics — so that every new design can be validated in virtual space before a single piece of steel is cut.
A Complete In-House Production Line
From raw steel and clay to a roaring 20-meter T-Rex — we control every step, so quality never gets outsourced.
Our factory campus spans more than 12,000 square meters of covered workshop space, organized into dedicated production departments that mirror the build sequence of every animatronic:
This vertically integrated setup means we control quality at every step — from the first sketch to the final test run — and it is why we can back our work with a two-year warranty and long-term parts supply.
Sculpting Studio
Master sculptors translate paleontological references into life-size clay and digital models, capturing every muscle group and scale detail.
Molding & Casting
Precision molds are produced for fiberglass, resin and silicone components, with strict tolerance control for large assemblies.
Skin & Finishing
Each dinosaur receives hand-painted silicone skin with layered color, texture and weathering treatments that hold up outdoors.
Mechanical Assembly
Welded steel frames, high-torque drive systems and motion mechanisms are assembled and load-tested for thousands of cycles.
Electronics & Control
Programmable control systems, sensor interfaces, sound systems and wireless show-control networks are integrated and bench-tested.
Quality Control
Every unit passes a documented multi-stage inspection covering structure, movement, sound, electrical safety and cosmetic finish.
Certified for Global Markets
Our manufacturing and quality management systems are certified to ISO 9001, and our products are built and tested to meet CE conformity requirements and UL safety standards.
Quality is not a department at HC Dinosaur; it is the way we build. Our manufacturing and quality management systems are certified to ISO 9001, and our products are built and tested to meet CE conformity requirements and UL safety standards for the markets we serve. Every export shipment is accompanied by product quality inspection documentation, and clients in regulated markets routinely request and receive our certification files as part of the compliance package. These credentials matter to our B2B customers — museums, parks, and venues that answer to their own safety regulators — and they are standard inclusions on every project we quote.

Sculptors, Engineers & Programmers
Behind every installation is a team of more than 120 professionals — artists and engineers who work side by side.
Behind every installation is a team of more than 120 professionals: sculptors and painters trained in traditional figure art, mechanical and electrical engineers, motion programmers, show-control specialists, project managers, and a logistics crew that has shipped exhibition crates to every region we serve. Many of our senior craftspeople have been with the company since the founding workshop, and we invest continuously in training — from digital sculpting to new servo technologies — so the team's skills stay ahead of the industry.
Lead Sculptors
Former museum artists who study real anatomy and paleontological references for every figure.
Mechanical Engineers
Design motion skeletons rated for years of continuous guest-facing operation.
Control Programmers
Choreograph shows and write the sensor logic that makes each creature react to guests.
Project Managers
Single point of contact from first sketch to on-site installation and handover.
500+ Projects Across 40+ Countries
Our 500+ delivered projects span more than 40 countries. We have installed permanent museum exhibits in Berlin, London, and Toronto; outdoor attractions in Texas, Sydney, and Madrid; seasonal mall shows in Tokyo and Amsterdam; and large-scale convention exhibitions in Paris and Dubai. A network of regional partners and on-call engineers supports clients after handover, and our remote-diagnostics service lets our factory team monitor systems and guide local technicians from anywhere in the world.
